Frederick Mooney is a native of Guelph, Ontario. After a brief but intense childhood facination with Patti Page and The Tennessee Waltz, he began piano studies at the age of fourteen and was a student of Victor Togni and Charles Peaker in Toronto and Maurice Duruflé in Paris. He won a Gold Medal at the Royal Conservatory of Music and First Prize in improvisation at the International Congress of Organists in 1967. In 1972 he gave the first performance in Canada of Olivier Messiaen's Méditations sur le Mystère de la Sainte Trinité.
Since 1997 he has been Director of Music of the Church of the Assumption in Windsor.
Mr Mooney is presently on his eighth concert tour of Europe. He has given concerts in, among others, Nuremburg, Hamburg, Karlsruhe, Rostock, Basel, Wiesbaden, Mannheim, Hildesheim, Bad Hersfeld and Ulm.
